Unlocking hope in prison

We have a long track record of supporting people in local prisons by:

  • Offering pastoral care to people facing loss and trauma

  • Supporting courses like Alpha and Sunday services

  • Helping people prepare for life after prison.

Pastoral care

A listening ear, an encouraging word or a shared prayer can make a huge difference.

We go out on the wings, from cell to cell, supporting people through difficult situations like grief or loss.

We also give out books and materials. A Mother’s Day card and stamp, for example, can help someone stay connected with a loved one.

Courses and services

We partner with prison chaplains to facilitate courses like Alpha.

We also help with chapel services on Sundays, bringing people together in worship and supportive community.

Helping prepare for life after prison

Leaving prison with a plastic bag of possessions and a discharge grant of £89.52 is tough – especially if there’s no one waiting for you. So we help people get ready. We connect them with someone they can meet on release, who’ll welcome them into community. This puts people in a much stronger position to rebuild their lives and avoid a return to prison.
